These photos were taken in 2008 during a summer internship at The Kansas City Star. Editing was typically done in my car on location. Images were sent from a laptop using a special adapter, similar to a cell phone. There was always a rush to get to the next assignment and edit the photos before the deadline. Sometimes, even getting a "typical" quality photo is very difficult. The most important rule is to get a decent runable photo with caption information before going for the weird photos. Then you can gamble your time, waiting for the right scene and composition.

The back yard of Matthew Nichols, who bought his neighbor's house just so he could expand his garden. The other is a Mi-24 helicopter seen at an air show in Mesquite, TX.

These are a collection of photos taken during the summer of 2010 for the Division of Recreational Sports at the University of Texas at Austin. Over 20 posters are on display throughout Gregory Gym and the Recreational Sports Center at the UT campus. The photos with people were were completely candid, but I did arrange the others. Lighting was always from available light. The first two were taken under spots of window light on the gym floor.
