The printing press in May 2009, three days after printing its last issue of The Daily Texan. The print quality and commitment by the press workers was unmatched. They could apply more ink to the pages than the Statesman (where current printing takes place), so photos appeared more vibrant. This press is now printing in Argentina.

These 25 photos were taken on Sunday 8/12/2007 in Coney Island, Brooklyn. They're in chronological order and none are cropped or really edited. It's interesting how they didn't emerge as the better ones, yet they're interesting even with their flaws. I wonder if we're editing our work down too much, and preventing these "imperfect" photos from being seen.

As visitors pass the Wonder Wheel to the boardwalk, they are reminded of its former glory days. Today, blue plywood fences surround vacant lots awaiting transformation. If developer Thor Equities' vision becomes a reality, an indoor water park and high-rise condos, among other attractions, will be constructed on the site.

The investor recently spent $120 million acquiring real estate in the heart of the amusement district, including Astroland, which could face demolition this fall. A new character may emerge if the city's rezoning plan allows Coney Island to become the largest urban amusement park in the U.S.
